Overview

A Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) is a test certificate that shows whether a welder possesses the necessary knowledge and skill levels to perform the specifications of a particular weld procedure. TVS Training & Services provides Welder Qualification tests, Welder certification, and validation of WPS and PQR services for various companies. The welder certification services include performance qualification to codes such as ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, D1.2, D17.1, and other BS EN ISO standards.

TVS Training & Services offers testing for all aspects of weld procedure and performance qualification to help organisations achieve their welder certification by providing:

  • Welding Procedure Specification sheet (WPS)
  • Range of approval sheet, based on plate thickness
  • Procedure Qualification Record (PQR), showing all the key features used to qualify the procedure
  • Visual inspection reports
  • DT / Non-destructive testing reports

Course Content

DAY 1
  • Pre-test & Viva about the welding process
  • Train the welders as per welding codes and standards
  • Safety precautions during welding
  • Parameter settings
  • Post-test
DAY 2
  • Welder Performance Qualification test as per ASME Section IX or AWS D1.1 or ISO 9606-1

Outcomes

At the end of the course, the participant will be able to:
  • Perform safe welding practices
  • Interpret weld requirements and specifications
  • Understand the welding certification process
  • Understand the codes and standards
  • Do parameter settings for different thicknesses of workpieces
  • Perform the welding of Fillet weld or Butt weld practical test as per WPS
  • Get certified as per specific international standards

Test & Certification Procedure

  • Verification: Prior to the initiation of welding, the applicant's photographic identification shall be verified by the Certified Welding Inspector
  • During qualification testing, if the Test Supervisor determines that the welder does not exhibit the skill to perform the test satisfactorily, the test may be terminated
  • The Test Supervisor may allow a welder to retest immediately or may require additional training or practice
  • The performance qualification data and results of the examination and testing shall be recorded
  • Examination: The test plates shall meet the visual acceptance criteria for performance testing as defined in the codes and standards
  • The visual examination shall be performed by a Certified Welding Inspector
  • The welding coupons (test plates) are inspected and tested at a NABL-accredited laboratory. Based on the lab test report, our CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) will issue the Welder Qualification Certificate

  • Pre-qualified WPS as per the standard
  • Passport size color photo (with blue background) – 1
  • Passport size color photo (with blue background) – softcopy
  • Educational certificate
  • ID Proof / Address Proof
  • Service Certificate from the employer
  • Duration: 2 Days

  • The programs will be certified by TVSTS.
