Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a method for translating customer requirements into appropriate technical requirements in a systematic manner at each stage—from research and product development to engineering and manufacturing, to process control. It is a very powerful tool as it incorporates the voice of the customer in the design, and hence it is likely that the final product will be better designed to satisfy all the customer needs. Moreover, it provides an insight into the whole design and manufacturing operation (from concept to manufacture), and it can dramatically improve efficiency as there would be very few changes once the product is launched. In this course, the basics of QFD will be explained in a systematic manner along with numerous practical examples and case studies.
