Overview

The course aims to improve electric vehicle technology competency for working professionals in the automotive industry. Participants will learn about the safe handling of electric vehicles, various vehicle architectures, component functions, working principles, and selection.

At the end of the course, the participant will be able to understand:
  • The effect of electric shock
  • Various architectures of EV propulsion systems and allied components with regenerative braking
  • Working and characteristics of commercial and EV motors and be able to differentiate EV motors from commercial motors
  • Power converters, their types & understand the importance of power converters in EVs
  • Battery system in electric vehicles & how to select the battery for an EV
  • Configuration of battery pack layout & understand the BMS and its types, functions, and benefits
  • Battery charging techniques, infrastructure of charging stations
  • Identify the parts of chargers & renewable charging
  • Develop interlocking circuits for EVs with high voltage components for HV safety
  • Test the high voltage devices of an EV
  • Types of conventional vehicle thermal management systems and their components
  • Electric vehicle thermal management systems
  • Different scenarios that exist in electric vehicle thermal management circuits
  • Battery thermal management system

Certification Criteria

  • Attendance: 90% minimum
  • Assignment completion: 100%
  • Post-assessment score: 70% minimum
